About Me
Given this website will be mostly me talking about orienteering, I'll start by start by talking about that bit.
I started orienteering through school in 2013 and went to my first major event in 2015. Since then I've been to almost every major event and have accumulated a nice collection of medals including 6 individual British titles across all four disciplines.
Since the end of my junior years I've focused less on performance and on the behind the scenes of mapping, planning & organising. I'm currently the coordinator for the UK Elite Orienteering League and a member of Masterplan Adventure.
I've made 7 maps, 6 sprint & 1 indoor. These range from small maps for local events up to WRE maps (somehow this was my first one?). I'm yet to make any forest maps, but I've not yet found the time to get started down this path.
Apart from orienteering, I'm a graduate software developer currently working at Scott Logic. My Github portfolio looks remarkably bare, which is mostly because my current side project, a combination mapping & planning software, has been in the works for several years and not progressing much because I keep on deciding to rewrite it from scratch.
If you've got any questions about anything, drop me an email at me@joesunley.com and hopefully I'll get back to you.
